TRAFFIC

Below are some common asked questions. For a complete list of questions and how many points citations cost please visit our FAQ Traffic page.

Q. Why hire an attorney to fight traffic tickets?

A. There are 8 Reasons. All listed below:

 1.  Points added to your drivers license – Accumulation of points can cause suspension or revocation of license

 2.  Valuable time wasted to appear in court

 3.  Higher Insurance payments – Citations, even if they carry no reduction of drivers license points, make a driver a greater liability to insure. Therefore that drivers risk is subject to higher insurance premiums/rates. To learn more about auto insurance rates, click here.

 4.  Drivers license suspension – Whether from a specific type of violation or an accumulation of points, traffic convictions can lead to a suspension of your drivers license. Any inability to take care of your ticket on time can result in your drivers license being suspended. To learn more about drivers license suspensions, click here.

 5.  Drivers license revocation – Convictions for certain types of violation or an accumulation of to many points can result in a complete revocation of your license. Drivers license revocation will generally result in your completing the application process from step 1. To learn more about drivers license revocation, click here.

 6.  Unemployment – If you drive under your company/employer’s insurance policy, the accumulation of points on your license can jeopardize your employment. This situation can make you insurable, or have a higher cost to insure. Each of these can possibly result in termination from your employment. These situations generally exist with drivers who possess a commercial Drivers license (CDL). To learn more about CDL drivers and their risks, click here.

 7.  Arrest Warrants – If you fail to answer a traffic citation on time, some courts will issue a warrat to motivate you to appear/pay your penalties.

 8.  Permanent Criminal Record and/or Imprisonment – While most traffic tickets are considered violations, more serious offenses may actually be designated as misdemeanors. Misdemeanors are criminal offenses and can also affect your employment, immigration or other status. Some misdemeanors are punishiable by jail or severe fines.

Q. How much does it cost to hire an attorney?

A.   The fee, charged by our office, for most standard moving violations (traffic citations) is $50. If a warrant needs to be quashed or special circumstances arise there may be a variance in the cost.  If there is any expectation of costs in excess of the $50, we will disclose the fee upon receiving your information and citation number. Please note this fee of $50 only covers the charge for our attorney to appear on your behalf. It does not include the actual fee/fine associated with the courts fee/fines imposed.

Q. How much will my ticket be reduced to, both cost and citation severity?

A. We cannot guarantee any result of a traffic citation. General moving violations are reduced to parking citations and there are no points assigned to your license for these types of citations. The overall cost of the ticket will generally be reduced, however we cannot guarantee a specific dollar amount of reduction for any ticket type.
